Even rarer still, is to find this glaze on Stangl's hand thrown Artware line. Well glazed pieces are exceptional in the way the glaze flows over the inconsistences of the hand thrown pieces. Unfortunately this glaze must have been difficult to fire as many pieces are found with serious glaze flaws consisting mainly of blistering. Finding properly fired hand thrown pieces in this glaze is truly a challenge but well worth the wait as this glaze is truly stunning when well fired.
More frequently this glaze can be found on lamps. Larger examples are easier to find but as with the mold cast artware, this glaze can be unexciting on flat surfaces. Finding nice, well fired examples that are on a body that allows the glaze to have depth are truly rare indeed but can be the show piece in any collection.
When found on mold cast artware this glaze can range from boring to spectacular. Although rare and attractive this glaze can be uninspiring when on a smooth surface. When applied to a inconsistent surface the glaze takes on beautiful depth. Again this glaze was prone to misfire so finding pieces that are not blistered is a challenge and makes nice examples that much rarer.
